The 114ce is a steel-string acoustic-electric from Taylor's 100 series. It combines a solid torrefied spruce top with layered sapele back and sides on a Grand Auditorium body, and the roasted top is intended to give a clear, balanced voice with some added warmth. Interior bracing is designed to increase volume, sustain and low-end presence.

Playing comfort comes from the standard Taylor neck, a mahogany or maple neck with an ebony or eucalyptus fretboard depending on availability, a 25-1/2" scale and a 1-11/16" nut width. The body has a Venetian cutaway and a matte finish on top, back, sides, neck and peghead. Hardware includes die-cast chrome tuners, a white NuBone nut, a white Micarta saddle and black ABS bridge pins, and it ships with D'Addario XS coated phosphor bronze light strings.

For plugged-in use the guitar carries Expression System 2 electronics, which use a behind-the-saddle pickup design. A soft gig bag is included. According to the maker's staff the model is built in Tecate, Mexico, and a limited lifetime warranty applies in the U.S. and Canada, with an extended warranty elsewhere on registration.
