Beschreibung

The MMR-8 is an 8-channel hard disk recorder and player aimed at film post-production dubbing stages, where it takes the place of a magnetic film dubber. It works with hard drives written in the native formats of many DAWs and reads the edit decision list the DAW itself uses, so audio does not have to be transferred from one medium to another. Basic editing functions such as cut, copy and paste are built in, allowing small changes during a mix. Because it can also record in DAW formats, it has been used on Foley and ADR stages and as a target machine when mixing surround systems.

Recording and playback run at 24 bit, with a 24 bit signal path over AES/EBU, and the converters are 20 bit A/D and D/A. Sample rates are 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz, including pull-up and pull-down variations. Drives are fitted in a removable Kingston carrier bay on the front panel.

Synchronization is built in for SMPTE, biphase and serial 9 pin. The MMR Bus allows up to 100 MMR/MMP units to be synchronized. A SCSI port sits on the back, and the ViewNet Audio graphical application can turn a network of MM-series dubbers into a DAW-style control environment.
