023 Bomblet

The Bomblet is a FET condenser microphone built around the S23 capsule, a large-diaphragm design made in-house. The capsule uses two 33mm membranes, one of them gold sputtered, and is voiced with a full low end, a pronounced midrange and a smooth, forgiving top end. A proprietary toroidal transformer adds weight and character to the signal.

It is described as easy to place, giving a balanced sound at different distances. It is aimed at vocals wanting a warm texture, and at louder or bass-heavy sources such as guitar amplifiers, kick drums and bass amplifiers, as well as cello, upright bass, bass clarinet and trombone. A switchable 20 dB pad handles loud sources.

The microphone has a cardioid pattern and runs on 48V phantom power. It is assembled by hand at the maker's workshop in Tula, Russia, and ships with a mic holder in a wooden box.
