The TL48 is a small clip-on microphone built around a dual-diaphragm capsule. The design is meant to keep the sound consistent when the speaker turns or moves, and it is tuned for dialogue with a 6 dB lift in the mid band at about 7 kHz. Sensitivity is rated low, and the maker lists low self-noise and wide dynamic range.
The capsule has a fixed frequency cap that can be painted, with a hydrophobic woven lining inside to keep out sweat and moisture. The 1.6 mm paintable cable is described as free of memory effect and kinks, and it carries a second redundant ground that acts as an extra shield. The mic is small enough to hide in costume or to sit against the skin under wardrobe, and a range of mounts and clips is available.
