The Aerophone GO is a PCM-based digital wind instrument that responds to a sax-style fingering layout and also works with recorder fingering. A mouthpiece-mounted sensor reads breath and bite, which allows control of expression such as vibrato and pitch. Eleven tones are built in, including four saxophone types, flute, clarinet and violin, and a Transpose knob shifts the key without changing fingering.
It runs on four rechargeable Ni-MH AA batteries or USB power and has a small internal speaker, so it can be played without external amplification. A headphone output allows silent practice. The body weighs 695 g and ships with a soft carry case.
Bluetooth connects it to a smartphone for audio playback and MIDI. The free Aerophone GO Plus app (iOS and Android) adds 50 sounds, play-along with slowed or looped songs, and settings for breath and bite sensitivity and fingering type. The separate Ensemble app lets several players perform together wirelessly using a different set of 19 sounds on the phone.
