The iQ5 is a stereo condenser microphone built around a mid-side capsule arrangement. It offers three pickup modes, 90°, 120° and M-S, so the stereo image can be matched to the source. Input gain is adjustable from 0 to +40 dB, and the maximum input level is 120 dB SPL.
Recording is available at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz with 16-bit resolution. A stereo mini jack carries a combined headphone and line-level output, so the signal can be monitored while recording. The unit weighs 30.5 g and measures 58.6 x 62.4 x 38.5 mm, small enough for a pocket.
The microphone attaches directly to the Lightning connector of the host device and draws its power from it. A Mini-B USB port is provided only for recharging the connected iOS device. Compatibility is listed for specific older iPhone, iPod touch and iPad models running iOS 6.0 or newer, and power supply to the mic from an iPad is not supported in the way described for iPhone and iPod touch.
