Concept 50

The Concept 50 is a floorstanding loudspeaker sold as a pair, positioned above the Concept 30 standmount model. Each cabinet carries two 125 mm (5.0 in) mid/bass drivers and a 25 mm (1.0 in) tweeter, both designed for the Concept 30, 50 and 90 models. The drivers are fixed to a 3 mm aluminium front baffle, and the tweeter is hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated from the baffle. The 30.5 mm mid/bass voice coil gives a stated 50% increase in power handling over a comparable 25.4 mm coil.

The cabinet is built to reduce resonance. Gelcore construction uses a non-setting gel layer between two layers to turn high-frequency vibration into heat. P2P internal bracing is placed only at points that need stiffening, and an HPE tube relieves internal pressure and standing waves. A sprung isolation base, with two plates separated by suspension spheres, decouples the cabinet from external vibration, and the crossover is mounted on that base.

Connection is through bi-wire speaker terminals on the rear, so two pairs of cable can run from the amplifier to each speaker. The speakers come in black or white lacquer and ship with grilles, spike and ball-end feet, and a support base.
