XB2

The XB2 is a passive sub bass unit that shares its line design and driver technology with the MB2 and MB2-A monitors. It is intended to be optimised in an MB2 surround monitoring system, adding low-frequency extension for demanding material.

Its 310 mm Radial driver is cooled in two ways: a conventional rear-vented magnet and a front-mounted Radial chassis that works as a large heatsink. This keeps the voice coil and magnet temperatures low, which is said to give reliable operation, about 3 dB less power compression and controlled bass after long periods at high SPL. The enclosure uses Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass loading, with an effective ATL length of 3 m (10 ft).

As a passive unit it needs an external power amplifier, with 200-800 W recommended, and it presents an 8 ohm nominal impedance. Frequency response runs from 20 Hz to 400 Hz. The cabinet measures 870 x 380 x 535 mm (H x W x D) and weighs 39 kg. A 20 year warranty applies when the product is registered within 10 days of purchase, subject to terms.
