The Mu3 is a pair of true wireless earphones that each use an 8.2mm full-range driver tuned by the engineers behind KEF's loudspeakers. Active noise cancellation reduces outside noise, and an ambient mode switches it off to let surroundings through. Each earbud has a multi-function button for playback, volume and calls.
Each earbud runs for 9 hours with Bluetooth and ANC on, and the charging case adds a further 15 hours, for up to 24 hours in total. Five minutes of fast charging gives one hour of playback. The case has built-in wireless charging and a USB-C port. Four sizes of silicone ear tips are included, and the earbuds are weighted so they sit balanced on the ear concha.
The earphones connect over Bluetooth 5 with SBC and AAC codecs, with a stated range of 10 m. Both earpieces receive the signal at the same time instead of one relaying to the other, which is meant to keep the connection stable with iOS and Android devices.
