Red4

Red4 is an entry-level model in the Prestige Series that uses Grado's moving iron design, based on the flux-bridger principle. The coils stay fixed while the moving mass is kept very low. The body is die-injection molded, and the internal signal path uses 5N OCC copper. Each cartridge is cryogenically treated and internally damped to reduce resonance.
The stylus is a bonded elliptical diamond on an aluminum cantilever. The stylus assembly can be replaced by the user, and all Prestige Series styli are interchangeable between models. Output is 4 mV, so the cartridge is intended to work with a broad range of phono stages. It is described as balanced and controlled, with a smooth top end, a present midrange and defined low frequencies.
It is available in two mounting versions: a standard 1/2-inch screw mount and a P-mount that plugs straight into compatible tonearms. Recommended tracking force is 1.6 to 1.9 grams, and the cartridge weighs 6 grams. Input load is 10k to 47k ohms.
