The Vintage Classic Gold VIII SP is a two-way floorstanding speaker built around a single 200mm IsoFlare point-source driver. A multi-fibre bass/midrange cone with a FyneFlute surround is paired with a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter at its centre, with a ferrite magnet system. The design aims for stable stereo imaging, including off-axis. Stated frequency response is 30Hz to 34kHz (-6dB, typical in room).
The cabinet is high-density birch ply with extensive internal bracing, finished in real wood veneer. It has a twin-cavity layout, a downward-firing port and a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser to manage low-frequency output. The crossover is bi-wired, passive and low loss, with a 2nd order low pass and 1st order high pass at 1.8kHz, and has had the Full Cryo Treatment. Two system adjustments are provided: high-frequency energy (1.8kHz to 34kHz) and presence (2.5kHz to 5.0kHz), each +/- 3dB.
Electrically, the speaker has an 8 ohm nominal impedance and 91dB sensitivity. The maker recommends amplifier power of 30 to 200 watts RMS, and continuous power handling is 100 watts RMS. Each speaker weighs 26.3kg.
